At short notice Reliance Yacht Management was tasked to take over the Lagoon 450 Catamaran “Solicitude” at the commissioning dock in Les Sables d’Olonne in France for a delivery to Tortola. The boat was destined to join the Dream Yachts charter fleet in the BVI. (more…)

The result creates benefits to both the dealer and the yacht owner. For the yacht Owner, a period of orientation and extended handover provides valuable familiarisation and enjoyment of their new purchase. The service can be customised to suit the client needs. Recently we have been providing two day orientation courses for new Owners collecting their yachts direct from factory in France. The course covering sail handling, manoeuvring and maintenance. On other occasions we have provided a captain for the initial part of a voyage and giving support and confidence to the owner to continue on. Yacht deliveries still remain the biggest demand, moving Lagoon catamarans direct to the Owner anywhere in the world.

For the yacht dealer, the benefits of using Reliance Yacht Management are many. As a representative in France, Reliance Yacht Management receives the boat on their behalf, check inventory, and carry out QC inspections. They can provide safety and charter equipment, and stow on board. This saves the brokers time and money who no longer need to travel to France as often. Marine Finance Company Calls Reliance Yacht Management for Help

Marine Finance Company needed a solution to locate a yacht, make it  seaworthy and deliver it to a broker for sale.

Following on from previous successful repossessions in Europe for a major international bank, Reliance Yacht management was approached by a small specialist marine lender in the UK.

They required a yacht to be located and secured in the Isle of Man and then returned to mainland UK to be sold. The yacht had had alterations made to it, and had not moved for some time. There were questions over it seaworthiness for the voyage.

Reliance Yacht Management were able to put together a package that suited exactly what the finance company required.  They were able to identify and confirm the yacht’s location and liaise with port authority and harbour master to determine all outstanding marina fees had been settled. They also contacted the previous owner to gain his cooperation and obtain technical history.

A team of two were sent to the yacht to make an initial inspection and asses what will be required to relocate her. This was reduced to one to save costs, when it became clear there would delays and that considerable work was required to prepare for a passage. The yacht had not been maintained. Eletrics, engine and running rig needed attention. The Captain and Reliance head office sourced the necessary skills and parts required to get systems to a safe standard.  When done, new crew were dispatched and a short test sail was completed. All being well they departed and headed south. The yacht arrived in Milford Haven and is now listed with a major broker there for sale.

On behalf of myself and my partners at Great Adventure Sailing LLC, I would like to thank you all for your outstanding service in the commissioning and delivery of our new Lagoon 450, Great Adventure.

To say that we were impressed by your handling of the complex logistics of delivering the boat first  to La Rochelle and then on to Palma, Mallorca would be an understatement. It would be difficult under any circumstances, but with the added difficulty of engine problems and weather that you were able to keep our schedule was very impressive. (more…)

Lagoon 450 “Great Adventures”

Transfer to Ship

Reliance Yacht Management offers each customer a reliable, hassle-free preparation and transfer service to ship’s side. Loading a yacht for delivery requires a great deal of care and experience, and the correct preparation can help make the experience that much better.  We understand what is needed.

How Reliance Helps Prepare Your Boat for Transport

  • It’s important to make sure everything is secure. Regardless of whether the delivery is short or long  Secure anything that not bolted or tied down. Anything loose could cause damage during the voyage. Hatches need to be secured with tape to avoid leaks and possible water damage. Lock all cabin windows. Also secure cabinet doors shut, secure cabin doors and lock all exterior doors.
  • It is important to know that the shipping company provides suitable insurance to protect your yacht if anything goes wrong. Our Captains have professional liability cover.
  • We liaise with the shipping company to make sure that they have the correct dimensions. They will have allocated space so it is important that they have the information well in advance.
  • We take note of any damages, scratches and take pictures to document any that already exist. Also, if we are required to remove any parts e.g. radar arch, bowsprit etc. again we take pictures of their location and stowage.
  • Remove sails or protect with covers.
  • Stow all personal items from the cabin and store any breakables in a safe place. Your yacht may be traveling on another boat, but it’s still going to experience the force of the ocean. It is important that there are no prohibited items on board, especially if you’re going to be passing through customs.
  • Liaise with the Loadmaster to bring your yacht alongside and put into slings.
  • Deliver your yacht as light as possible. Empty all tanks as much as possible, and ensuring there is sufficient to get to and from the transport ship.
  • Remove anchors from the deck, remove drain plugs from the hull and make sure there is no water in the bilge. You may request us to flush your tanks with a chlorine bleach solution.
  • Power down everything, You don’t want dead batteries when your vessel is offloaded at your destination.
  • Yacht documentation and keys are given to the load master or his agent.
  • Photographs taken of lashings

There are several important steps we take to take to ensure smooth transfer to ship for your vessel.
